Dancing at The Corn Exchange
By Kevin Rodgers
Published in 2017, Kevin’s Rodgers’ DANCING AT THE CORN EXCHANGE is a meticulously researched labour of love, chronicling the glory days of bands and dancing at The Corn Exchange from 1959 to 1965.
Listing every act to perform, from Jerry Lee Lewis to The Rolling Stones, Kevin has created a book which is both historically informative & full of nostalgia.
DANCING AT THE CORN EXCHANGE is richly illustrated with posters and photographs from a bygone era, which capture the energy of those heady days of teenage freedom.
Available from this site with a donation from the cover price going to the WCXCT. A fantastic present for anyone who grew up in Wisbech in the early 1960s.
Born in Wisbech during the 1920s, Norman Jacobs M.B.E. became a legendary figure in East Anglia from the 1940s onwards.
This forthcoming biography by Norman’s son Norman Jnr. recounts how he rose from quite modest beginnings to create the largest independent chain of theatres and entertainment centres in East Anglia whilst saving several historic cinemas from destruction.
LUCKY FOR SOME records in details the history of entertainment in Wisbech and how Norman managed to bring jazz legends from Joe Loss to Ronnie Scott, pop icons Lulu and The Rolling Stones and popular entertainers such as Danny La Rue and Ken Dodd to the town.
